Arc’teryx Norvan VT2
Details
The Arc’teryx Norvan VT2 excels in grip. Its Vibram Megagrip outsole provides all the grip you need on wet or rocky terrain. The forefoot climbing zone enhances scrambling precision, making it a hybrid for off-trail adventures. The breathable mesh upper keeps feet cool and dries quickly, but the firm EVA/polyolefin midsole can cause fatigue on long runs over more complex surfaces. It’s responsive for shorter, technical runs but less plush than many cushier options available in this space.
Durability is generally strong, with the outsole and midsole showing minimal wear after extensive use. The TPU-reinforced upper resists abrasion, but I have read that the mesh is known to tear where it meets the toe cap. However, my pair has been solid so far. The fit is snug and stable for narrow feet, with forward eyelet placement locking the foot in place. I am 11.5 with a broader foot, and this fits true to size.
How I use
I am not sure why I purchased these shoes. Although they fill a gap in my running arsenal, it’s just a gap that I rarely need to fill. I whip the Arc’teryx Norvan VT2 out when I need something for less than 10 miles of dry technical terrain, and I have yet to use the climbing zone.
