Why Choose the Arc'teryx LEAF Assault Balaclava FR?
The Arc'teryx LEAF Assault Balaclava FR is designed for military and law enforcement professionals, but I purchased it to see if it could be repurposed for snowboarding or hiking. Its flame-resistant properties, provided by TENCATE Defender M 5.5oz Flame Resistant Mesh Knit, are exactly what is not good for snowboarding. The material is on the rough side, and I have a better purpose-built balaclava that I can take to the mountain.Weighing only 50g, this piece is very lightweight and comfortable to wear for extended periods. The ergonomic design, with flat seams, minimizes irritation, making it a suitable choice for use under helmets. It pairs well with goggles, as it was designed for tactical use. Its adjustable configuration allows me to pull it down for full face exposure or keep it up for eyes-only.

How I Use the Arc'teryx LEAF Assault Balaclava FR
- Snowboarding: Staying warm and comfortable is critically important when I go snowboarding. I used it a few times, but I have more purpose-built balaclavas. Although it is designed for tactical use, it offers exceptional breathability and an ergonomic fit that pairs perfectly with my snowboarding helmet and goggles. The mesh construction enhances ventilation, prevents overheating, and reduces fogging. The material is on the rough side, so I usually take the Rho Balaclava.
