Arc’teryx Atom AR
Insulation
The Arc’teryx Atom AR Hoody uses synthetic insulation and has an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio. This jacket is extremely popular for good reasons: It is lightweight, compresses down to almost nothing, and, most importantly, keeps me warm.
Durable
The outer fabric is lightweight and durable, with a DWR finish. Most of my Atoms are old as dust and show no signs of wear after being battered.
Versatile
Arc’teryx designed this as an all-around piece. The Atom AR can be worn as a standalone jacket in cool conditions or as a warm mid-layer under a shell in colder climates.
Breathable
The jacket has stretch fleece side panels to prevent overheating.
Hood
The jacket has an insulated, adjustable hood that is warm without compromising visibility.
Pockets
It has two zipped insulated hand pockets and a zippered internal chest pocket.
Hem and Cuffs
The hem is adjustable with a draw cord, and the cuffs are elasticized.
How I use
Winter Hiking
The Arc’teryx Atom AR is an excellent insulating layer during cold hikes.
Snowboarding
I got this jacket from Regear, and like the Atom LT, I take the AR to snowboard when I need a no-brainer mid-layer, and there is a chance of me shedding the shell.
