Arc’teryx Grotto Toque
The Arc’teryx Grotto Toque is a winter hat, or “toque,”. The toque is particularly prevalent in Canada. It refers to a knitted cap worn for warmth, but we call it a beanie in the US.
Material
The Grotto Toque is made from 100% recycled polyester (plastic bottles). It is a very dense knit that can sometimes be a furnace.
Design
The Toque is mid-length, features a colorful, massive Arc’teryx bird logo, and provides enough coverage for my head and ears.
Fit
The soft polyester feels warm and cozy against the skin. Even though I have a small head, this beanie still grabs me from the small amount of elastane in the material.
Key Points
The Arc’teryx Grotto Toque is extremely warm, so I only wear it when it’s very cold; otherwise, I will overheat during activity. It’s hand wash only, but I have been washing it with the rest of my clothes from day 1, and it still looks great.
How I use
Snowboarding
I exclusively use the Grotto Torque on snowboarding trips. When my helmet comes off, I need to be warm and comfortable, and this torque delivers. It’s a very thick hoss; if I need a thinner option, I will reach for the Rho Torque.
I picked this Toque up at Arc’teryx.
