Arc’teryx Vertex
Details
The Arc’teryx Vertex upper is made from 100% recycled, PFC-free polyester, which provides breathability and durability. The shoe’s integrated collar fits like a sock, preventing dirt and rocks from getting in. This shoe was designed for Alpine Running and Scrambling. A TPU rock plate in the mid to forefoot adds substantial protection from sharp rocks and trail hazards. The downside to this protection is that I feel every bit of this plate when I run on flat terrain. So I mostly hike rocky terrain in them. The shoes have a compressed EVA midsole that delivers cushioning and support, while the forefoot anti-abrasion wrap adds durability in high-wear areas. The Vibram Megagrip outsole’s deep 4mm lug pattern and friction zone in the forefoot provide traction on various surfaces and conditions.
My Uses
Hiking
The Vertex provides stability, grip, and foot protection when attacking steep, rocky trails or mixed terrain. I also love hiking in the Norvan LD3.
